To the Rescue!

This morning Brett and I went freediving--sort of. More like, we went snorkeling while the folks around us went freediving, but we were practicing diving down and holding our breath for as long as we could too. Then, this afternoon we helped rescue a juvenile nurse shark that got trapped in a fishing cage next to Dove Cay. We brought the whole cage up onto the boat, pulled the shark out, and put her in a big plastic container filled with water. Then Marta, the SFS Research Associate who specializes in shark behavior took a few measurements and a tiny clip of one of the fins for a DNA sample. Then we let the shark back into the water and she (we checked) swam away.
